A series of initiatives to support Malaysian small and medium enterprises will be one of the outcomes of a new partnership between telecoms provider Telekom Malaysia and electronics firm Panasonic Malaysia.

Under the agreement signed by Telekom Malaysia (TM) executive vice president, SME, Azizi A Hadi and Panasonic Malaysia's managing director Jeff Lee, local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be offered bundled solutions of ICT broadband services and devices.

"This partnership will also add value to TM's partnership with SMEs in line with the company's aspiration to become the preferred communications and solutions partner to help Malaysian SMEs to compete locally and globally," said TM's Azizi. "What's more important is the benefits that this collaboration will bring to our SME customers, including opening up more possibilities for them to further enhance their business operations and create more values through our product offerings."

"The SME sector is one of the major segments for TM and is contributing at least 20 percent of the company's total revenue," he said. "Being a key economic growth driver for Malaysia with increasing contribution towards the national GDP (gross domestic product), SMEs provide positive outlook for the Malaysia economy."

"The objective of this collaboration is to strengthen the brand awareness for both companies" said Panasonic Malaysia's Lee. "By providing added value of a new distribution channel for TM products such as broadband, fixed telephone line at Panashop outlets, our business partners will not only get incentives from the sales of TM products, it will also generate future purchases of other electrical products at the outlets.  In return, Panasonic will showcase its range of communication products including DECT phones at all TMpoint outlets for cross selling."
