UniFi, the highspeed broadband service from Telekom Malaysia [TM] is offering higher broadband speeds as well as IPTV features to Malaysian businesses, according to the Malaysian telco.

The new packages of UniFi BIZ - BIZ30 and BIZ50 - come with a portfolio of complimentary products and services including a DECT phone, a WiFi business gateway, and WiFi ID, said TM's executive vice president, SME, Azizi A Hadi. "These will bring Malaysian SMEs [small and medium enterprises] further up the value chain with affordable and enhanced connectivity. With this in mind, TM has introduced higher speeds of UniFi [30Mbps and 50Mbps] and also the availability of Internet Protocol Television [IPTV] as part of its UniFi for Business [UniFi BIZ] packages."

"SMEs will be able to maximise the use of next-generation online applications and services via TM's high-speed broadband network at affordable prices - providing them with a quantum leap in terms of enhanced efficiency and productivity, expanded sales and marketing channels with lower hardware and software investment," said Azizi.

"Higher speed broadband connections would enable SMEs to have better experience doing business activities over the Internet," he said. "With faster Internet connections, SMEs can collaborate and use advanced online business applications more efficiently. Globally, entrepreneurs are leveraging on the Internet to tap into new market opportunities. Hence, businesses need higher bandwidth, speed, reliability and security of next generation connectivity, to fully exploit the power of Internet and cloud computing services."

Azizi added that with UniFi BIZ, subscribers would enjoy unlimited data with no usage capping at the moment and also the lowest call rates for businesses in Malaysia - at a flat rate of three sen/minute (less than one US cent) to all TM fixed lines nationwide and 12 sen/minute (almost four US cents) to all mobiles and other fixed line operators.

"Always being dynamic and being one step ahead, we are confident that this value added service will enable SMEs to enhance their offerings and of course, boost their business productivity by having the competitive edge in providing new experience to their customers," he said.

UniFi is available in 94 areas covering more than 1.32 million premises passed including key economic and industrial zones in Klang Valley, Cyberjaya, Putrajaya, Kulim Hi-Tech Park and the Iskandar Malaysia area. In Penang, the deployment of UniFi has covered Bayan Baru, Bukit Tengah and Seberang Jaya for both residential and industrial areas.

UniFi has grown by leaps and bounds and to date, TM already more than 460,000 UniFi customers nationwide with more than 65,000 SME customers included. Monthly new subscriptions are certainly on an upswing, increasing month-on-month since its launch in March 2010, driven by the increasing number of areas covered with UniFi and the increasing customer awareness that UniFi is now available in their neighbourhood.
