Nurdianah Md Nur | Aug. 14, 2014
The upgraded apps will enhance customer loyalty and brand affinity as well as provide the car rental companies a leg up its competitors.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) — an IT solutions, service and consulting provider — yesterday (13 August 2014) announced that it has completed revamping mobile apps that were developed on behalf of Avis Car Rental and Budget Car Rental.

The new Avis and Budget mobile apps are now able to process coupons and provide a breakdown of rental costs by clearly displaying frequent traveller programme surcharges, insurance and other add-ons. They also allow customers to select additional ancillary products to be incorporated into their reservation, including Loss Damage Waiver protection, Additional Liability Coverage, Satellite Radio and Roadside Assistance, beyond the previously available GPS and child safety seats options. Moreover, the new apps enable customers to create and manage their reservations, compare the existing and modified reservation data, and find rental locations.

In a press statement, Satya Ramaswamy, TCS' global head of Digital Enterprise said that the upgraded mobile apps will "not only enhance customer loyalty and brand affinity, but also elevate the car rental companies' ability to meet the competition head on."

While the Budget mobile app is currently available only to iOS and Android devices, the Avis mobile app can be found in the Play Store, Apple's App Store, Windows Store, and BlackBerry World.
