Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been named the official IT consultancy partner of the SCMS 2014.

As the official IT consultancy partner of the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS) 2014, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will provide a mobile application and technology support for the event, the IT services, consulting, and business solutions firm announced Wednesday (July 30, 2014).

In collaboration with event organiser Spectrum Worldwide, TCS will develop a mobile application for the race participants. According to its media statement, the app will include a range of training and race day features, providing all necessary information and technological assistance a runner will need for the race. It will be available on all iOS and Android mobile devices, and will be released in Singapore sometime in the middle of September.

To date TCS has sponsored several international running events such as the New York Marathon and Bangalore World 10K, but this partnership with the SCMS signals its first foray into Southeast Asia.

"TCS is excited to be the IT consultancy partner of the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore 2014, a first time relationship with a major running event for us in the Asia Pacific region, and our Singapore and regional teams look forward to participating along with our clients and partners," said Vish Iyer, President of TCS Asia Pacific. "SCMS 2014 is an outstanding platform for us to combine our commitment to running and health and well-being in general, which is personified by the TCS Fit4Life program, along with our outstanding and proven capabilities providing technology platforms to leading marathon and running events worldwide."

"We're delighted that TCS has chosen the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore as its first marathon sponsorship in Asia Pacific," added Lawrence Robertson, Commercial Director of Spectrum Worldwide. "Their involvement in this year's race is a testament to the stature of the event in this part of the world and we look forward to working closely with the TCS team in developing a world-class race app for our participants."
