Vendor notes up to 25 billion devices to be IoT-connected by 2020.

Symantec Corporation has announced a comprehensive set of Internet of Things (IoT) security solutions, as more devices — 25 billion by 2020 — are expected to be connected via the Internet globally.

According to Symantec, these products have been developed to secure "everything from televisions and cars to smart meters and critical infrastructure."

To ensure compatibility, Symantec is partnering with manufacturers in the automotive, industrial control, and semiconductor industries. At the same time, it is providing IoT security solutions for healthcare and retail markets.

The solutions consist of authentication, device security, analytics and management to help prevent cars, medical devices, industrial control systems and several kinds of consumer electronics from becoming hacked, tracked and electronically hijacked.

These solutions consist of device security with Symantec Embedded Critical Systems Protections, IoT Roots of Trust and Device Certificates and Code Signing and Secure App Services.
