Microsoft has announced the general availability in Malaysia of its 2-in1 Surface Pro 4 mobile productivity device.
During a demonstration of the mobile solution in Kuala Lumpur, Microsoft Malaysia's recently appointed chief marketing and operations officer, Michal Golebiewski, said that the Surface Pro 4 was the perfect device for millennials in Malaysia.
"We are seeing an increasing number of young consumers who love to use Surface devices," said Golebiewski. "In fact, 98 percent of Surface Pro 3 users would recommend a Surface device to friends and family. These young people demand ultra-portability and power at the same time, and we've given them what they desire through the Surface category."
He cited a recent Microsoft Asia-Pacific survey of 1,200 Asian youths under the age of 25 in 14 countries, including Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Korea, which indicated that 15 percent of Asian millennials already have a 2-in-1 device, while 42 percent wished to get a new 2-in-1, tablet or laptop device during the holiday season.
"Surface Pro 4 arrives as consumers - particularly the millennials - are increasingly looking to refresh their technology as they look for simpler devices that bring the best of mobility and productivity," added Golebiewski. "In fact, 59 percent say they want to have touch screens on all their devices and 41 percent want a digital pen to write on their devices. The Surface Pro 4 is the perfect 2-in-1 device to meet their needs."
K Raman, managing director of Microsoft Malaysia, said: "We have received remarkable success since the launch of the Surface Pro 3 last year, and continuously drove ourselves to create the most productive devices on the planet. We didn't sit on our laurels, and today, I'm proud to say that the Surface Pro 4 packs more power in a slimmer, lighter form factor."
"The Surface Pro 4 is perfect for people who place a premium on portability, yet require more productivity and performance out of their devices," said Raman.
A Microsoft Malaysia statement said the 4th edition of the 8.4 mm thin Surface Pro, housed in magnesium case is 30 percent more powerful than Surface Pro 3 and also runs quieter, cooler and is more efficient with up to nine hours of battery life. Other features include:
- Microsoft Windows 10 Pro operating system together with 6th Generation Intel Core m, Core i5, and Core i7 processors,
- Ports include a USB 3.0, microSD card reader and Mini Display Port
- 12.3-inch PixelSense display with a 3:2 aspect ratio
- New Surface accessories such as improved Surface Pro 4 Type Cover and redesigned Surface Pen
The statement added that the Surface range has been gaining popularity in Malaysia, which has led to Microsoft Malaysia increasing its list of commercial resellers to more than 170 partners so businesses can more quickly and easily incorporate Surface into their environments. Additionally, Microsoft has expanded the Surface retail partner stores to over 200 outlets across the nation to provide better access to consumers.
Surface Pro 4 and accessories available today via Microsoft Malaysia's Online Store on Lazada, as well as select retailers and authorised commercial resellers.
