Large software vendors like IBM and SAP are just starting to figure out how the Apple Watch can tie into their applications, he noted. Salesforce, meanwhile, was one of the first companies to work with its partners on developing Apple Watch apps, but those programs have basic functions, Kaul said.
Fitness trackers, like those from Fitbit, on the other hand, have seen greater adoption among businesses as part of corporate wellness programs, he said. The study noted that BP, Autodesk and Red Bull are among companies that have provided their workers with fitness trackers in an effort to keep employees healthy and potentially lower health insurance costs.
