Singapore consumers will soon be able to get their hands on Sony's latest slider hybrid PC, VAIO Duo 13, and the VAIO Pro 13/ 11.
Both ultrabooks are the result of combining Sony technologies with new form factors to provide consumers with new ways to use their PCs either for work or leisure, said Ryosuke Akahane, SVP and president of VAIO & Mobile Business Group at Sony.
VAIO Duo 13
The VAIO Duo 13 is a slider hybrid Ultrabook that allows quick and seamless transition between slate and keyboard modes.
The VAIO Duo 13 can be utilised via a stylus (top), touch or keyboard (below).
In slate mode, users can operate the Ultrabook by touching it or using its digitizer stylus. Sliding the screen back will reveal the keyboard and touch pad to accommodate conventional PC usage such as editing documents.
The VAIO Duo 13 boasts a battery life of up to 11 hours per full charge. This is on top of the Ultrabook's constant connection to the Internet, enabling apps and emails to be continually updated even when it is asleep.
Users can also use the Ultrabook as a scanner. Leveraging the 8M built-in rear camera that features the "Exmor RS for PC" image sensor, captured images of documents and blackboards will also be clear enough for the computer to recognise and tag text.
The VAIO Duo 13 will be available mid-July this year.
VAIO Pro 13/11
Weighing at just 0.87 kg for the 11-inch model and 1.06 kg for the 13-inch model, the VAIO Pro 13/11 are the lightest in its respective classes, according to Sony.
Its weight is due to the uni-direction carbon fibre body and Hexa-shell design, which also provide the additional durability needed for a mobile PC.
Users can continue enjoying their music right where they left off on different devices with the One-touch listening feature too. It enables users to seamlessly transfer the music playing on their VAIO to NFC (Near Field Communication) compatible devices.
The VAIO Pro 13 will be available from the following dates and at the recommended retail prices:
