What are the best performing websites in Singapore? Which sectors of the country's economy have the top performing websites?
According to Compuware Corporation, the technology performance company, Singapore's banking and insurance sectors steal the march over other sectors as far as Web performance is concerned.
Compuware today announced new website performance benchmarks in Singapore -Gomez Benchmarks-that provide a comprehensive set of global independent Web and mobile performance metrics. The metrics provider defines benchmarking as 'comparing and tracking Web or mobile site performance against competitors in your industry and Internet leaders'.
This benchmarking, according to Compuware, matters because it is a first step in determining whether your Web or mobile site performance is supporting your business goals and meeting your customers' expectations.
The key findings from the benchmarking exercise across four sectors from June 2012 to August 2012 are as follows:
Insurance - The country's insurance sector posted the best average response times (measures the time elapsed while downloading a page or an entire multistep transaction process) for the top 10 websites among the four sectors with average response times ranging between 1.1 to 1.3 seconds, said Compuware. During the three-month period, the average response times decreased from 1.3 to 1.1 seconds. The top 10 insurance sites in the study also posted 100 percent website availability with the rest of the sector improving website availability from month to month.
'Availability' measures the percentage of successfully completed tests out of total test attempts for the measurement period, according to Compuware.
Banking - Singapore's banking sector had the second best average response times across all four sectors with the top 10 banking sites averaging between 1.5 to 1.7 seconds, said the technology performance company in a statement. The top 10 banks in the study also posted 100 percent website availability during the three-month period
Government - Across the government sector, average response times for websites ranged between 5.1 to 5.6 seconds with the top 10 government sites in the study averaging between 1.8 to 2.1 seconds, according to Compuware. Peak average response time of 5.6 seconds occurred in July. The number of government sites with 100 percent availability doubled over the three-month period
Telecommunications - Across the telecommunication sector, average response times were the poorest across all four sectors ranging between seven and 9.6 seconds. Average website availability across the telecommunications sector remained relatively constant at 99.6 percent during the study period
Compuware also released new website performance benchmarks in the airline, education, hotel, media, retail and securities sectors in Singapore.
