Australian Cloud-based software vendor, Retail Express, has confirmed it offshored to South Africa and Singapore in December and February, respectively.
According to company founder and managing director, Aaron Blackman, the decision was made because the vendor believes both nations have a strong retail sector, and are currently underserviced by point of sale (PoS) and inventory management products, thus creating the opportunity for Retail Express.
Blackman also said South Africa and Singapore's tax structures are similar to that of Australia, allowing its retail platform to fit into the foreign retail environment.
In preparation for the move, Retail Express expanded its support structures, making investments in additional support and development staff in order for technical support to be ready for customers in those time zones.
The expansion to South Africa and Singapore is somewhat of a prelude to a product overhaul which will see the vendor release its next generation PoS platform mid-year.
"Our development team is working hard on a major upgrade to our Retail Express solution which will deliver even more productivity gains and operational enhancements for retailers seeking to improve efficiency while reducing their costs," Blackman said.
