PropertyGuru has launched SmartSelect in a bid to make house-hunting less stressful and more rewarding for property seekers in Singapore.

According to the Asian property site, SmartSelect is a personalised property research engine that takes the guesswork out of property hunting.

SmartSelect automatically benchmarks specific property listing against market data indices and express it into a single score. After which, it  personalises the property search by weighing that score against the customers' criteria such as size, price per square foot, location, tenure and age of property. The final score then allows the property seeker to easily research and compare properties within the district or even in the same block or development.

Lewis Ng, managing director of PropertyGuru Group, said that Singaporeans take an average of seven months from starting their property search to closing the transaction. Searches include browsing through properties online and offline, as well as in-depth research of market data from Urban Redevelopment Authority and Housing Development Board. The motivation for SmartSelect is thus to address "frustrations that consumers face during property search and viewing stages of their property hunt."
