Packet One Networks (P1) has expanded its coverage to East Coast and East Malaysia with the aim of including both rural and urban communities with enhanced internet connectivity, said the Malaysian 4G network provider.

Lai Shu Wei, P1's chief marketing officer, said that currently, communities within these areas were "heavily dependent on pre-paid data connectivity via their smartphones. This limitation restricts them from online content for business, education, entertainment and many other purposes without disruption. "

Lai said P1's initiative denoted "a new beginning for the rural and sub-urban communities, as they disembark on a journey of hassle-free internet services."

"Customers in the East Coast and East Malaysia access the Internet similar to the way we in the urban areas do," he said.  "However, their online activities are constrained by network coverage and data limit. Broadband should not be a privilege to any Malaysians as access to information is a right. Hence, we want to enable these communities so they too can be part of the current trends and technology advancement where information can be accessed at the click of a button."

Lai added that these communities would be among the first to experience the company's newly enhanced DX825 modem.

"Through our new DX825 home modem, they will not have to rely on mobile data alone anymore," he said. "Now everyone in the family can stay connected. It is our goal to continuously provide an enhanced user experience."

Lai said P1 is offering an introductory package with a free one (1) month subscription with zero upfront payment promotional discount to all new subscribers to P1 4G network.
