Electronics and technology service provider OPPO launched its global strategy together with two new smartphones yesterday at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre in Singapore, which was attended by over 1,300 people, including dealers, OPPO fans, as well as international media.
With an emphasis on the company's philosophy "Designed for Life", OPPO unveiled two new smartphones at the event. The first model, the N3, is said to be the world's first phone with an automatic swivel camera, according to the company in its media statement. This means that N3's camera has the ability to rotate 206 degrees and is capable of taking pictures using its free-stop and multi-angle shooting features, enhancing the mobile photography experience.
The other model, the R5, is touted as the world's thinnest full high-definition smartphone, with a thickness of less than 5mm. Both phones are launched in Singapore today.
Besides smartphones, OPPO also showcased the PM-3, the "world's first sensitive Planar Magnetic headphones", that is designed to make HiFi quality enjoyable when using phones, PCs and tablet devices.
Beyond its strong customer base in China, OPPO said that it currently holds the number four position in Vietnam in terms of sales and the number five position in Thailand. This rapid growth can also be seen in Indonesia, a market OPPO entered in May last year. OPPO currently has a market share of 6.5% in Indonesia, giving it the number four ranking in the market.
The company, with already a strong presence across South East Asia, said that it is building its footprint in the Middle East, Mexico and Australia and plans to have a presence in 20 markets worldwide by the end of 2014.
"We are delighted today to be taking this philosophy to a global audience, bringing meticulous, innovative and trendsetting products to a wider audience that meets the specific needs of each individual market," said Sky Li, General Manager of the OPPO overseas mobile phone business, at the global launch. "This represents one more step in OPPO's journey of enriching lives through our products. We are also particularly proud that OPPO's employee family now includes members from so many markets worldwide."
