IKEA has recorded a 29 percent growth in online sales in the UK after increasing the number of products available to buy through its website.

The retailer now has 7,500 products available online, 80 percent of its entire range, and most recently enabled customers to purchase through the mobile IKEA website.

Gillian Drakeford, IKEA UK retail manager, said: "With the continued uncertainty around the recovery from the recession, we have continued to invest across our online and in-store shopping channels to create a simpler, more convenient and enjoyable experience."

IKEA also launched free wifi in all its stores, to allow customers to buy directly from their mobiles while in store.

"We will also continue to develop our multi-channel offer as we look to give customers a seamless journey from online to in-store," said Drakeford.

IKEA's UK total sales in the financial year to 31 August 2013 amounted to £1.268 billion, a 3.1 percent increase compared to last year (£1.23 billion).
