NTAG21xF portfolio focuses on consumer electronics and mobile accessories

NXP Semiconductors today introduced a new line of near field communication (NFC) tags, the NTAG21xF portfolio.

The NTAG21xF portfolio is specifically designed for use in consumer electronics, mobile accessories and wearable infotainment such as smart watches.

With the integrated field detection mode in the tags, the accessory will be able to quickly pair with an NFC phone or mobile device that is in close range. All the user has to do is to tap their phone to the accessory.

Given its large memory — from 144 bytes for NTAG213F to 888 bytes for NTAG216F — the NTAG21xF tags will be able to cover both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi pairing.

The NTAG21xF family also offers the possibility to set the NFC tag into a non-responsive mode to avoid draining the battery.
