US networking solutions provider NetGEAR has announced a partnership with Malaysian IT distributor Convergence Networks and launched new storage solutions for Malaysian small and medium businesses (SMBs) and home users as part of its move to ramp up operations in the country.
Speaking on 29 November 2011, NetGEAR ASEAN regional director Soo Kean Thai said the company has started an aggressive focus to reach into ASEAN markets by this move. "Convergence Networks has long been a top-notch IT distributor of IT solutions for the Malaysian enterprise market. We see them as instrumental in building our brand in the growing mid-range networking, storage and security equipments local market."
Soo said that in Malaysia, NetGEAR provides IT storage and networking offerings to SMBs and end-consumers/ home users. "Currently, the brand is also present in Singapore and Indonesia, with plans to establish in Thailand in 2012."
A new version of the company's Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems - ReadyNAS - will offer high value at competitive prices to Malaysian home users and SMBs, he said. "The new storage versions cost 30 percent less than similar products at twice the data access speeds. The NETGEAR storage products also have a long three-year warranty and 24x7 support."
"The NAS storage market grew more than 37 per cent to US$3.7 billion in 2010, according to Gartner, and so it is becoming more important as more digital content is accessed and backed up via mobile devices worldwide," said Soo. "Many SMBs are experiencing a drastic increase in digital content such as imagery and archival records within the medical or professional service applications."
"NETGEAR ReadyNAS systems truly redefine reliability, affordability and simplicity of storage systems," he added. "The updated user-interface the creation of secure private/ personal clouds for as few as eight mouse clicks - so that SMB and home users can store and access music, photos, videos and documents from anywhere in the world, and interact with more mobile devices."
