MSC Malaysia status firm Vanilla Applications, which offers UltraBac backup and disaster recovery systems, has signed with distributors - Sysnetpro Solution in Singapore and ACA Pacific Group in Thailand - as part of its continuing expansion into Southeast Asia.

These signings follow similar moves in Indonesia and the Philippines, said Melina Hwang, director and co-founder of Vanilla Applications. "We have already experienced real success in Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines. This is due to excellent technology combined with strong local support and careful selection of highly capable partners."

"Since officially launching UltraBac's Asean business nearly a year ago, we are pleased to have built partnerships with more than  40 Systems integrators across the region, built strong skills and partnerships with our distribution partners and taken on numerous new customers including government agencies, deference agencies, retailers, financial institutions as well as many small businesses," said Hwang.

"Backup and disaster recovery [DR] remains a critical issue for many businesses," she said. "IT managers understand that no matter how strong backup software is, if its implementation is poor, the solution cannot be relied upon. That's why we have been selective in taking on partners that complement our own resources with technical skills of their own."

"We have been looking to diversify our business, data protection and DR was the next logical progression from our strength in IT security," said ACA Pacific Group, Thailand, group director, Peter Corney. "We took a close look at UltraBac's offering and feel confident that the enterprise class bare metal recovery technology will be well received by medium and large businesses alike."

Sysnetpro Solution managing director/founder, Mike Li Managing said: "UltraBac have a very selective strategy for Singapore, we are not looking to recruit a huge pool of partners, rather we want to focus on a small group of specialist SI's that can add real value to Data Protection solutions under-pinned by UltraBac. Sysnetpro's role in this is to educate, train, enable and provide hands on support to the Singapore reseller partners that we recruit."
