Boosting workforce productivity
The wristbands on the patients may look useless but they do hold value. For instance, incorrect tagging may lead to baby swaps or cause a patient to receive the wrong medication.
Healthcare providers can leverage the mobile printers from SATO — a global barcode and RFID technology provider that focuses on data collection and label printing solutions — to prevent such errors from occurring. All they need to do is to connect the Motorola devices containing the right information of the patient, scan the barcode on the patient's wristband and the medication to confirm the right patient, the right dosage and the correct medication.
As patients are constantly wearing the wristbands, SATO ensures that the material of the wristbands is gentle on the skin to the extent that it is safe enough to be used on infants. The wristbands are also waterproof and can be cleaned with alcohol if needed. Currently, a well-known private maternity hospital in Singapore is using SATO's new maternity wristbands.
Besides wristbands, healthcare providers can use SATO's printers to print labels. For example, if a patient is required to undergo a blood test, the nurse can connect a Motorola device to SATO's mobile printers to print the exact number of labels for the required number of tubes of blood. This provides the patient the assurance that the nurse is not drawing more blood than necessary.
