Tim Miller is the CEO of Rally Software, which helps organisations perfect the art of software development through Agile and Lean practices. Rally is four‐time winner of the highly coveted Jolt Award (the software industry's equivalent of the Oscar award) and has been named one of the fastest growth companies and also one of the top companies to work for in Colorado for 3 years running. With more than 18 years of management experience, Tim has been honored as an Esprit Entrepreneur of the Year and a finalist for Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year. Prior to joining Rally, Tim was CEO of Avitek, which was sold to BEA Systems in 1999.

Tell us about the beginnings and evolution of your business?
When my business partner, Ryan Martens, founded Rally, his intent was to change the technology industry by moving it from a slow, wasteful product model to a fast, sustainable service model. Ryan was influenced by Taichi Ohno, widely regarded as the father of automobile maker Toyota's lean and just-in-time (JIT) manufacturing, which sought to eliminate waste defined as "any human activity that absorbs resources but creates no value."
Today, Rally offers a SaaS (Software as a Service) platform that transforms the way organisations manage the software development lifecycle by aligning software development and strategic business objectives, facilitating collaboration, and increasing transparency. Rally also provides extensive consulting and training on Lean and Agile applications that help organisations innovate, lead, adapt, and deliver.
In addition to offering powerful solutions for our customers, Rally has a strong commitment to mobilize citizen engineers, serve our communities and protect the planet. In 2012 we launched our philanthropic arm, the Rally for Impact Foundation, which is dedicated to enabling engineers to apply their skills and expertise for positive social change.
After more than 12 years of helping companies to get to market faster and be more productive, we're seeing a significant evolution in the ways that we can help companies to stay ahead of the curve. In addition to working with companies to redesign their thinking and approach to software development, our customers are coming to us for support with much larger scale, organisational transformations. We're helping companies to re-evaluate processes and practices across the organisation to help ignite business agility, which in turn enables the business as a whole to respond more quickly to market changes.
