Microsoft is due to launch its Surface tablet this Friday and one model is already sold out.
The £399 and cheapest model of the Surface tablet with Windows 8 RT is unavailable for pre-order because it is sold out. Meanwhile, the other models of the Surface will be subject to a delivery of 1-2 weeks. See also: Microsoft Surface price in the UK.
A notice on the Surface website reads: "32 GB without Black Touch Cover - Temporarily sold out"
Although the entry level model is sold out you can still pre-order the 32GB with a Touch Cover and the 64GB Surface with Touch Cover. In addition, the Touch Cover on its own which costs £99 is only available in white, meaning black and cyan have both been removed.
It is hard to tell how popular the iPad rival has been since we don't know how many units of the Surface Microsoft has ordered. A recent report suggested that it has ordered between three and five million devices.
The Surface is also looking at a 1-2 week shipping delay in the US, Canada, France and Germany. The Surface Pro is expected to arrive early in 2013.
