Microsoft and A*STAR’s I2R to leverage combined research and development capabilities to drive innovation for optimised and secure Smart Nation Platform

To deliver innovation securely, Microsoft has also invested in a comprehensive security and privacy programme for over a decade as part of Trustworthy Computing - a long-term, collaborative effort to provide secure, private and reliable computing experiences for everyone. This not only enables IoT to be managed securely, big data can also be harnessed safely and securely through ambient intelligence and machine learning to provide real-time actionable insights for coordinated government services delivery, better citizen engagement and increased satisfaction for sustainable urban living.

"Microsoft is delighted to be chosen as A*STAR's Institute for Infocomm Research's first private sector partner to establish the Reference Architecture for Singapore's Smart Nation Platform. Looking beyond the technological executions for Smart Nation, the goal is fundamentally about empowering our people and to build a safe and livable Singapore for them through technology. With our wide experience in building smart cities, we are well-placed to leverage our deep research and development capabilities for knowledge-sharing and collaboration with I2R. We look forward to playing a key role in Singapore's journey to be the first Smart Nation in the world, and to enabling better communication, collaboration and coordination between agencies, public and private sectors as well as with our biggest resource - our people, through this partnership," said Jessica Tan, Managing Director, Microsoft Singapore.
