Microsoft gives Outlook.com first dibs on new features

Mark Hachman | May 14, 2014
If you're interested in trying out the latest updates to Microsoft software, you might think that an Office 365 subscription would be the way to go. Wrong!

"The following new features, which are rolling out today, build on our commitment to give your inbox new and better ways to do the heavy lifting and help you save time," wrote Mike Schackwitz, principal director of program management for Outlook.com, in a blog post.

It's fair to say that features like undo and rules have been available in other Microsoft products for years, meaning that, on the one hand, Microsoft's free Outlook.com service is still playing catchup. But Outlook features like Sweep, a handy sort of HR spam filter for the office, have yet to roll out to Office 2013 or Office 365. Depending on your preferences (and whether your IT admin allows you to access your email via the site), you may find yourself jumping back and forth between the Web and the dedicated app.
