MasterCard and Atos e-payment subsidiary Worldline are partnering to offer the MasterPass digital transactions system to merchants across Europe, including the UK.
This July it was announced that Argos, Boots, House of Fraser, The Hut Group and Seetickets.com were among the brands to sign up to the MasterPass scheme.
MBNA was also confirmed as one of the first card issuers on the MasterPass platform in the UK.
MasterPass from Mastercard is a digital platform that is designed to simplify online purchases made from connected devices including PCs, tablets and smartphones.
MasterPass eliminates the need for consumers to enter detailed shipping and card information to complete their online shopping at MasterPass merchant sites that have the "Buy with MasterPass" button on their check out page.
Consumers can securely store MasterCard and other branded credit, debit and prepaid card information, address books and more.
This simplification of the purchasing process, which also includes all the guarantees of a card payment, should enable e-merchants to increase significantly their transaction conversion rates and boost the development of mobile commerce, said the partners.
It is planned to extend MasterPass to stores, driving the convergence of payment technologies such as NFC, flashcodes and QR codes.
"Our goal is to offer our clients a solution that will improve both online and offline shopping experiences", said Xavier Brucker, head of multi-channel payments at Worldline.
From November, MasterPass will be available on Worldline's online payment platform.
