Continuing its Southeast Asian expansion, Malaysia-based ICT services firm Hitachi Sunway Information Systems [HSIS] has signed an agreement with Singapore's S & I Systems to take over support of Oracle JD Edwards customers in Singapore.
HSIS group chief executive officer Cheah Kok Hoong said the takeover of this ERP [enterprise resource planning] portfolio's activities will be by HSIS's Enterprise Applications division and was another step towards expansion in Southeast Asia.
"The Enterprise Applications business is no doubt very important for the HSIS group; thus moving forward you can expect that HSIS will continually boost up all effort to grow this line of business in other SEA markets particularly in Thailand," said Cheah.
"With HSIS, S & I Systems' Oracle JD Edwards customer base in Singapore will have the support of eight times (8x) bigger resource in the team of application support specialists that HSIS has built up since 1991," he said. "We are therefore confident of providing better service and all post-sales customer support."
S & I Systems chief executive officer, Eric Sng, said, "By passing on the support and services role to HSIS, S & I Systems will continue to focus on the JD Edwards systems infrastructure design and implementation in Singapore. This agreement with HSIS is definitely synergistic in terms of a win-win business situation for both companies."
"Both companies will optimise its wealth of experiences in enterprise systems leadership and applications capabilities respectively and thus collaboratively drive sustainable improvements in Oracle JD Edwards deployments for customers," said Sng, adding that migration for all S & I Systems existing customers to HSIS was ongoing.
Headquartered in Singapore, S & I Systems is a subsidiary of Singapore Exchange (SGX)'s main-board listed TeleChoice International Limited (TeleChoice), which is a unit within the Temasek-owned Singapore Technologies Telemedia Group.
