The annual Computerworld Singapore Readers' Choice Awards (RCA) — dubbed as the 'Oscars of the Singapore IT industry' — culminated in yet another joyous celebration gala dinner at the Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore on October 8.
Key executives from the winning companies gathered that night to accept their trophies and celebrate their achievements for being recognised as top choices by readers of Computerworld Singapore.
This year, also the 20th edition of the RCA, saw the presentation of awards for 30 categories, which were divided into eight sections: Communications, Cloud, Enterprise Applications, Hardware, Security, Storage, Services and Virtualisation.
Hewlett Packard Singapore has the biggest haul, as it bagged three awards, namely in High-End Enterprise Servers, Mid-Range Servers, and Support and Maintenance categories.
Other star performers who walked away with two awards each were CITIC Telecom CPC (Enterprise Mobility Management Suite and Infrastructure-as-a-Service), Microsoft Singapore (Platform-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service), SAP Asia Pte Ltd (Enterprise Resource Planning and Supply Chain Management), SAS Institute Pte Ltd (Business Intelligence & Data Analytics and Performance Management), as well as VMware (Server Virtualisation and Storage Virtualisation).
The honour roll also includes Arcserve, Avaya, CenturyLink, Check Point Software Technologies, Citrix, Dell Singapore, EMC International SARL, Fortinet, IBM Singapore Pte Ltd, Lenovo, NCS, Nimble Storage, OpenText, Salesforce.com, ServiceNow, Singtel and Symantec Corporation.
These awards go to service and product providers that score the highest in areas such as price, performance, feature sets, reliability, and ease of use. This is evaluated by the nation's qualified information and communication executives, who are Computerworld Singapore readers.
Every year, Executive Networks Research — the research arm of Executive Networks Media — conducts the awards survey on behalf of Computerworld Singapore, following industry best practices to deliver statistically valid results.
Congratulating all the award-winning companies for their continued efforts, Mark Hobson, Chief Executive Officer of Executive Networks Media, said, "Among the things that stand out from this year's voting is that all levels of IT users and buyers in Singapore were forthright in their recognition of the ways this year's RCA winners' services and innovations helped them meet their business needs in challenging times."
"From this year onwards, the Readers Choice Awards in both Malaysia and Singapore has put the widened the spotlight to include the service providers — as company brands — rather than just their specific IT products and services. This move is in tune with the growing emphasis on the service providers' benefits and values delivered through products and services that match end user needs. Besides enhancing customer engagement, it also better supports the winning companies' deepening partnership with their customers," he added.
