There's a new e-commerce company that is officially open for business now in Singapore.
Lazada.sg, according to its backers, offers 'customers an effortless shopping experience and sellers an easy access to online commerce.'
The company was launched in 2012 and over the last two years it has has grown rapidly to become the leading online shopping mall in Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and Philippines. Lazada says it boasts the highest web traffic of any online mall with over one million visits to its website every day and the biggest social media following in the region with seven million Facebook followers.
Launching with eight different categories including Health & Beauty, Mobiles & Tablets, Consumer Electronics, Home Appliances, Home & Living, Singapore customers will soon find 13 categories available online with a more lifestyle focus, including the launch of a new private fast fashion label, the e-commerce company said in a statement on 27 May.
The website is accessible via mobile phones and tablets. iOS and Android applications will be available in June, followed shortly by Windows, a company spokesperson said.
Besides secure credit card and PayPal payment options, Lazada.sg also offers cash on delivery payment.
Lazada has over 1700 employees across Southeast Asia. The company has raised approximately US$430 million in funding over the past two years from key investors including Tesco, J.P. Morgan, Verlinvest, Summit Partners and Investment AB Kinnevik.
