Lazada Effortless Sale 2015

Besides eating, shopping is a national pastime of Singaporeans, evident from the huge turnout at sale events including the annual Great Singapore Sale (GSS).

With the GSS currently in full swing, shoppers would most likely face big crowds, long queues and parking trouble at malls. To help shoppers avoid such situations, online marketplace Lazada Singapore will be running a three-day sale event, called Effortless Shopping Sale, on its website.

From tomorrow (24 June 2015) till Friday (26 June 2015), will offer discounts, free shipping and next day delivery, as well as 15 individual flash deals from 9am to the midnight of 25th June. Maybank cardholders will also enjoy a 20 percent discount on their purchases on the site.

In a press release, Lazada said that it aims to encourage online shopping, especially via mobile, through the sale event. A Google Shopper Study published in June 2014 found that product quality (45 percent) and the security of their financial details (33 percent) were the main barriers to online shopping in Singapore. However, Lazada Singapore's customer satisfaction survey in April this year proved otherwise and found that 85 percent of respondents were satisfied with the quality of product offered on the site.

"There is a clear disconnect between what offline shoppers perceive and what customers on Lazada Singapore experience," said Martell Hardenberg, Lazada Singapore's CEO. "We are thus taking the first step towards showcasing the benefits of online shopping, through the Effortless Shopping Sale."

To further help brick and mortar shoppers become savvy online customers, experts from Lazada provided the following tips:

  • Download retailers' mobile apps and turn on the push notifications to get alerts on the latest promotions.
  • Watch out for time-sensitive flash deals and set an alarm to avoid missing promotions.
  • Only use your credit or debit card on sites with a padlock icon in the URL bar. This means the site uses secure communications to prevent any third-party eavesdropping.
