ICT services provider Dimension Data is working with Pertubuhan IKRAM Malaysia (IKRAM) and Humanitarian Care Malaysia Berhad (MyCARE) to distribute essential disaster survival kits to villagers of Kampung Pasir Raja to help them prepare for floods.
Dimension Data Malaysia's managing director Henrick Choo said the company's staff across Asia Pacific countries helped to raise a total of RM70,000.00 (US$22,055) was raised to purchase essential survival kits such as tents and sleeping bags.
Choo said the items were distributed during a handover ceremony and lunch gathering with Kampung Pasir Raja's Jawatan Kuasa Kemajuan dan Keselamatan Kampung Persekutuan (JKKKP) and several of the 800 odd population of villagers, which was held recently in Sekolah Kebangsaan Pasir Raja, Dungun, Terengganu.
He said the flood affecting Kampung Pasir Raja in 2014 was the worst ever recorded, with waters rising up to 6 metres resulting in the entire village to be inaccessible by roads.
Dimension Data Malaysia's east-coast resident engineer in Dungun, Mohd Ahmad Hafiz, who was also affected by the flood, has been assisting in the recovery and rehabilitation efforts to rebuild impacted villages. In addition, IKRAM and MyCARE has identified Kampung Pasir Raja as the village most needing urgent support.

Organisations can help
Ahmad Madhzar Bin Awang, Pengerusi Jawatan Kuasa Kemajuan dan Keselamatan Kampung Persekutuan (JKKKP) of Kampung Pasir Raja said 'We are really thankful to Dimension Data, for extending a helping hand as the villagers continue to rebuild their village. These efforts by organisations in both public and public sectors are always instrumental in strengthening the villagers' morale to stay strong during these challenging times."
"The support by Dimension Data is exemplary of how organisations can bring impact and provide the needed support to help natural disaster victims quickly regain their livelihood. We hope more of likeminded organisations will come forward to giving similar, if not, more encompassing aid to the villagers and victims," he said.

"We are glad to be given this opportunity to work with JKKKP Pasir Raja, IKRAM and MYCARE, and we will explore more similar opportunities and needs in which Dimension Data can lend a helping hand," he said.
