When asked why security seems to be stuck in a never ending cycle of cat-and-mouse game, Hypponen attributed it to the changing nature of attackers. "Despite advancements in security over the last decade, we keep seeing problems so it may feel as if things aren't getting better. In reality, things have indeed improved &mddash; today's security solutions would be almost foolproof if the attackers today are similar to those 10 years ago. However, attackers have evolved with time and have a different level of attack capability than before. Hence, we're still facing security threats even though we're improving the security of our systems, and this will never go away."
