Intel beats estimates, says PCs packing next-gen Broadwell chips on track for the holidays

Mark Hachman | July 16, 2014
Intel said Wednesday that shipments of its Broadwell processor would be in time to allow PCs to ship this holiday season, as the company handily exceeded analyst estimates for its second-quarter earnings.

Perhaps to soothe investors, Intel's board of directors authorized an increase of $20 billion to its share repurchase program, and the company forecast share repurchases of approximately $4 billion in the third quarter.

Intel said that third-quarter revenue would be about $14.4 billion, plus or minus $500 million, or up about 4 percent from the second quarter.
