Increased grants under IPCC 2014 will boost Malaysia's creative content sector, says MDeC

AvantiKumar | Sept. 3, 2014
The 8th MSC Malaysia Intellectual Property Creators Challenge Series competition is themed 'I Love Comedy,' said MDeC VP of Creative Multimedia Cluster Kamil Othman.

"Providing industry insights and sharing platforms with experts in the field will enhance the capabilities of our local talents, as invaluable inputs and sound advice can be shared, added Othman. The best people to deliver this are of course the dynamic industry players and the market leaders themselves."

IPCC has been a platform for content creation and acceleration for local talents where locally owned intellectual properties can be identified and developed. Since the first IPCC in 2006, 222 individuals and companies have received a total of RM8.7 million [US$2.76 million] in financial support in addition to training and development programmes. In 2013, there are 22 projects in development amounting to RM1 million  [US$320,00]of value committed, and these will be ready by September 2014.
