Telekom Malaysia's HyppTV is the first Malaysian IPTV company to win the TV Connect Industry Award 2013 for Best Live Online TV Service, said the Malaysian telecoms provider.

During the award ceremony in London, Telekom Malaysia (TM) executive vice president, new media, Jeremy Kung, said HyppTV's win at the TV Connect Industry Awards, previously known as the IP&TV Industry awards, follows last year's distinction when HyppTV came second best in the Best Service Growth Achievement category.

"This recognition is truly a momentous occasion for us by becoming the first Malaysian IPTV service to win an award at the prestigious TV Connects Industry award. What a night for HyppTV," said Kung. "In addition, this conferment came at the perfect time when we just celebrated UniFi's 3rd Anniversary recently last month."

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our HyppTV subscribers for their continuous support and trust in us," he said. "Receiving this international recognition even though we are relatively 'young' in the arena, definitely drives us to further intensify our efforts towards providing our subscribers with the best quality content offerings."

Last year, HyppTV went ahead against companies such as AT&T U-Verse TV, BT Vision and ZTE Corporation's Jiangsu Telecom ITV. "This time around, HyppTV won against the likes of Oman Telecommunications Company Omantel TV service and Slovenia's TS Media."

HyppTV offers 107 channels with 20 channels in high definition (HD) - consisting of 72 premium linear channels, 15 video-on-demand (VOD) genres and 20 interactive channels.
