HKNet has launched a new Point of Presence (PoP) in Taiwan, the subsidiary of NTT Communications announced on 19 June.
The PoP will enhance the network accessibility and capabilities of HKNet in the region, allowing the company to better support businesses in Asia and beyond, the company said in a statement.
"Taiwan is an important market for HKNet because of its high-growth potential and strategic location. The new Point of Presence is a testament to our strong belief in Taiwan's opportunities for networking growth and optimisation. This launch is a major milestone for us and will offer businesses access to HKNet's high-capacity regional networks," said Patrick Ng, Executive Vice President, Global Network Business Division, NTT Com Asia Limited, which operates HKNet.
According the telecom company, the new PoP allows HKNet to enhance its SecureNet Ethernet service, a carrier-class Ethernet that adopts highly-advanced Provider Backbone Bridging-Traffic Engineering (PBB-TE) technology, providing any-to-any managed connectivity solutions to enterprises.
With the new PoP, SecureNet Ethernet not only connects Taiwan to Hong Kong but also to other fast-growing Asian countries, such as China, Cambodia and India.
