Philippines-based BancNet has selected Gemalto to deliver secure and convenient mobile banking and payment services to its customers.
With Gemalto's Ezio Authentication Server and Mobile token, BancNet's customers from its network of 116 local and international banks will be able to securely access their bank accounts and make payments using their mobile devices as their primary authentication device. This would save them the hassle of carrying or registering multiple security tokens, said Aristeo Zafra Jr., BancNet General Manager and Chief Operations Officer.
Since the Ezio Authentication Server is a token-agnostic solution that supports most authentication technologies, it provides BancNet the flexibility in selecting the most appropriate authentication solution for their customers, said Gemalto. The solution is also compatible with open standards, enabling easy integration with BancNet's legacy systems.
According to research firm On Device Research, smartphone penetration in the Philippines is expected to triple to 50 percent this year. BancNet is thus poised to tap on this pool of mobile consumers by offering secure and convenient services backed by the Ezio Authentication Server, said Michael Au, President South Asia and Japan at Gemalto.
