Computer manufacturer Lenovo has launched new thinner and lighter versions of its Yoga portfolio - the Yoga 3 Pro and Yoga Tablet 2 - in Malaysia.

During the launch in Kuala Lumpur, Khoo Hung Chuan, Lenovo Malaysia country general manager, said, "Many consumers loved the Yoga design and its unique features - for both PC and tablet. To continue evolving the YOGA range as a truly adaptable, intelligent device was a natural step."

"We wanted to give users a more compact machine with innovative features that will truly adapt to the user giving them the best experiences ever," said Khoo, adding that the new 13-inch Yoga 3 Pro is "dramatically thinner and lighter than its predecessors with a new striking and sturdy watchband hinge."

"It uniquely addresses users' desires for an extremely stylish device, best-in-breed performance capabilities and the hardware and software adaptability they crave," he said. "For a new and better way to read, watch, connect and create, the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro redefines the tablet experience with a built-in tablet-projector. The 13-inch entertainment tablet that gives out an exhilarating 8 watts of sound including a subwoofer - a first for a tablet."

"The new Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro's design is an outstanding example of the innovation we are seeing in 2-in-1 systems, while the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro is the culmination of the most extensive research and feedback we've ever undertaken. As a result, we've preserved the best features of the original Yoga Tablet - the modes and the long battery life," said Khoo.

Also at the launch, Intel Malaysia and Singapore's recently appointed country manager, Sumner Lemon, said, "Intel processors offer unparalleled performance and a great user experience. With our 4th Generation Intel Core processors, customers are spoiled for choice with a wide range of devices that offer amazing battery life, stunning graphics, touch screens, and a choice of beautiful, sleek and light designs."

"Intel-based 2 in 1s, like the Lenovo Yoga, are the best way to get a lot done in the shortest time. While tasks such as booking a vacation or filling out a spreadsheet are more easily done in a PC-like environment, these devices can also be converted into a tablet for surfing the Internet or watching videos," said Lemon.

 Tablet includes built-in projector

Lenovo's Khoo said that the new YOGA 3 Pro has slimmed down 17 percent from its predecessor's frame at just 12.8mm thin - thinner than a pencil when opened. The PC also comes in lighter at 1.19kg - 14 percent less than before.

The thinner design has been made possible by a new watchband hinge constructed from more than 800 pieces of steel and aluminium with six focus point instead of two. As well as the QHD+ 3200x1800 display, built with durable Gorilla Glass, the device has premium JBL speakers with Waves Audio, which automatically adjusts the audio in each of the four modes.

Powered by an Intel Core M processor, storage is provided by a solid state drive up to 512 GB SSD and Intel integrated graphics.

The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro features a built-in Pico projector, which allows users turn inside walls into a TV or movie screen with automatic image adjustment and up to three hours playback time. The device also includes an audio system delivering 8 watts of sound as well as a QHD 2560x1440 screen.
