Epson Malaysia has announced it has more than doubles its growth rate for financial year ending 2014 with sales increasing 31 percent over FY2013 with strong performance across all key business units, said the digital imaging and printing solutions company.

During the unveiling of the FY2014 (April 2013 to March 2015) financial results, Epson Malaysia country manager Shimizu Tomoya said the company has also reaffirmed its number 1 projector brand position in Malaysia with a market share of 24.3 percent.

"Epson's growth momentum in Malaysia is a testament of our relentless commitment to creating value that exceeds customer expectations. Our strong FY2014 performance comes on the back of 14 consecutive months of over-achieving sales targets which underscores the incremental appeal of our brand and products," said Tomoya.

"We will continue to build on our compact, energy saving and high precision core technologies to bring more innovative, versatile and reliable printing and imaging solutions to the Malaysian market," he said.

Tomoya said the company's performance was topped by its projector business with sales reaching 57 percent year-over-year driven mostly by increasing demand for its business projectors and was also the company's 14th consecutive year as the world's number one projector brand [according to 2014 results by projector market research firm, Futuresource Consulting] with almost one-in-three projectors purchased in 2014 being an Epson projector.

 Increasing demand

Epson Malaysia's sales and marketing general manager Danny Lee said the sectors that fuelled the increasing demand included the education market and changing corporate requirements for higher brightness and better resolutions.

"We are very proud that in Malaysia, Epson is now the recommended brand in the private and public education sector. Image quality has always been of utmost importance for Epson, which is why our focus continues to centre not only on high brightness but also high colour brightness," said Lee.

"Our award-winning line of L-Series printers is ideally suited for office and business environments of all sizes. Not only does Epson offer the versatility of wirelessly printing from whatever device the user prefers, but we are also successfully addressing the issue of cost management that is a priority in any business," he said.

In addition, Epson's expanding family of industry-leading commercial and industrial printers recorded significant gains in FY2014 with sales growth of 25 percent year-over-year. Key contributors were the industrial printers - textile, direct-to-garment and signage.

Epson's dot matrix printers and POS printers secured 96 percent market share, with Epson's dot matrix printer sales rising to 32 percent year-over-year. Epson also maintained its lead position in POS printers with sales growth of 54 percent to achieve a market share of 36 percent.

"2014 was a year in which Epson's technology leadership and keen customer focus continued to be well-received across Malaysian markets. Whether it's interactivity for increased collaboration, better cost managements, improved efficiency and productivity or enhanced versatility for creative and novel business applications, Epson delivers," said Tomoya, adding that moving forwards the company would be looking to add expansion in the signage, CAD and textile segments as well as offering Epson interactive and touch-enabled projects for more smart classrooms.
