Telekom Malaysia's new collaboration with IT business solutions provider EMC will result in better customer experience of HSBB [national high speed broadband service] with the use of EMC Smarts, said the partners.

Giorgio Migliarina, chief technology and innovation Officer for Telekom Malaysia [TM], said the deployment of EMC Smarts, an operations support system [OSS], will provide better network visibility and smart analysis tools to track and solve network infrastructure issues.

Migliarina said the new solution laid a framework for the highest level of service support and maintenance: rapid fault detection, faster time to action, and minimised service downtime are some of the additional benefits of the EMC Smarts.

"HSBB network infrastructure is built from a heterogeneous collection of hardware and software," he said. "The network becomes exponentially more complex as it expands. With EMC SMARTS, we are able to identify any issues that cause service disruption as well as other connectivity challenges in such a multi-layered environment, hence reducing downtime and minimising the need for expert resources and related time cost."

"High speed connectivity is essential for end customers to embrace digital lifestyle which includes teleworking, distance education, online gaming, Video-on-Demand and content streaming," said Migliarina. "At the same time, it is an enabler for economic growth as fast network access and minimal downtime enable businesses to communicate and operate more efficiently, and gain an edge in an increasingly competitive marketplace."

Cheam Tat Inn, managing director of EMC Malaysia, said, "We believe that TM's investment will contribute strategically and extensively to the sustainable technology infrastructure development in Malaysia. We congratulate them for their foresight."
