KUALA LUMPUR, 11 MAY 2011 - To meet the demands created by a rapidly evolving e-commerce sector in Malaysia, eBay has appointed a new country manager, it said.  Muralikrishnan B is now country manager for Malaysia, and will also be responsible for Philippines and India.

"Malaysian eCommerce is rapidly evolving and eBay is uniquely positioned to continue to lead this growth," said Muralikrishnan. We have an exciting calendar ahead for Malaysia and I am delighted to take on my new role and look forward to further strengthening our leadership position".

He joined eBay in 2005 and has held a variety of leadership roles in eBay India, most recently as senior director - marketing and product management. His achievements include driving a scalable hybrid local development model, which enhanced the eBay user experience.

Ambareesh Murty, who as country manager managed the eBay Malaysia business from January 2010 to May 2011, will pursue entrepreneurial interests in the Indian Internet space. "I wish Murali all the best in his new role. I've had a great time over the last few years, working with a fantastic team. I am confident that Murali and the eBay management team will do a great job of charting the future of eCommerce in Malaysia, the Philippines and India."
