Digi puts spotlight on 'extraordinary netizens' at WWWOW Awards 2015

At this year's WWWOW Awards, Digi Telecommunications (Digi) recently recognised the top eight netizens of Malaysia for creativity, ingenuity and entrepreneurialism in using the Internet to inspire others.

At this year's WWWOW Awards, Digi Telecommunications (Digi) recently recognised the top eight netizens of Malaysia for creativity, ingenuity and entrepreneurialism in using the Internet to inspire others.

Commenting on Digi WWWOW Awards, now in its fifth year, Chan May Ling, Digi's head of Marketing Services, said, "Through these awards Digi hopes to continue to inspire more Malaysians from all walks of life to tap onto the internet to increase online creativity and entrepreneurism in the country."

This year eight category winners were for positive use of the internet walk home with RM10,000 (US$2,341) each. In addition:

  • The People Choice Awards winner walked away with RM10,000 (US$2,341) worth of Apple products
  • The ultimate WWWOW Winner received 2 all-expense paid tickets to experience TEDx Nepal and TEDx Chiangmai
  • Winners are also given a chance to learn from experts via specially curated sessions through the Digi WWWOW Hangout

 Themed 'Taking Ideas Further,' the awards attracted more than 750 entries submitted. "The Digi WWWOW Awards is in line with our 'Internet for All' mission where we imagine putting the power of the Internet in the hands of every Malaysian. The awards seek to inspire Malaysians to ideate, create and turn their ideas into inspiring content," Chan said.

The Digi WWWOW Awards 2015 saw 14,204 votes submitted between 1 and 19 November 2015. This year's event was hosted by Jenn Chia and included performances by Back 2 Basics.
