Digg's Google Reader replacement expected to launch in beta next week

Brad Chacos | June 18, 2013
Digg Reader will hit the Web right before the unfortunate demise of Google Reader.

Then there's Pulse, and Taptu, and Bloglovin'—all services that purport to fill Reader's shoes, but that come up short in some crucial areas.

Indeed, choices are already out there but, with Digg and Facebook waiting in the wings, patience is probably a virtue while you search for a Reader replacement. The picture should be much clearer by the end of next week.

If the idea of sitting around and twiddling your thumbs while Google's RSS service inches ever closer to death, get proactive and download your Reader data using Google' Takeout functionality.

With a backup of your feeds safely stored on your local computer, Reader's imminent demise feels a whole lot less daunting.
