With online shopping growing in the Asia Pacific region, Dell Computers has forged a partnership with MasterCard to reach out to more consumers.
MasterCard will offer its customers exclusive discounts, benefits and monthly specials from Dell Computers, which has recently launched a new portfolio of business and consumer PCs based on the Windows 8 platform. The exclusive offers include discounts up to 15 percent off Dell selected systems, monitors, printers and projectors, and vary across different markets.
The year-long campaign, which ends 31 October 2013, covers 10 markets in the region: Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Taiwan.
MasterCard said the tie-up takes into account the growing trend in online shopping in the region. Its latest online shopping survey revealed a "steady momentum" in online shopping in the region, with 84 percent of respondents from the 10 markets saying that they have made at least one online purchase in the last three months.
There are even markets where there is huge potential for growth. In Singapore, 57 percent said they use the Internet to shop with 79 percent saying they were satisfied with their online shopping experience. Another 71 percent said they were likely to make an online purchase in the next six months.
"Over the past few years, we've seen online shopping rapidly gain traction across the Asia Pacific region. This is not surprising given how consumers are becoming more tech-savvy and retailers are increasingly bringing their products and services online," said Nagesh Devata, Group Head, Acceptance and Market Development, Asia-Pacific, Middle East & Africa, MasterCard Worldwide.
Devata added that the partnership with Dell allows their customers to access some of the latest technologies at their convenience.
"As Internet penetration grows in Asia Pacific, customers are preferring to shop online for their favourite technology products in a secure shopping environment," said Anil Srinivas, director, Dell APJ Online Business & Consumer Go-To-Market.
As one of the pioneers of e-commerce, Dell said the partnership with MasterCard is further helping customers purchase a wide range of technology solutions through a safe and secure online shopping experience.
