Dell's new future-reader enterprise vision and the launch of new storage solutions has strengthened the ability of Malaysian organisations to better adapt and scale their data centres, said the technology solutions company.

During the launch announcement in Kuala Lumpur, Dell Malaysia's general manager for commercial business, KT Ong, and head of enterprise solutions, William Tan, said the new offerings continue "to redefine the economics of enterprise storage, offering customers of all sizes world class storage solutions that remove complexity, lower cost and deliver impressive long-term value."

In addition, Ong said Dell was the first storage array provider to announce adoption of the industry's newest, highest-density and lowest-cost-for-performance enterprise flash drives.

He said Malaysian organisations of all sizes can "realise dramatically reduced costs from the modern, virtualised storage array architecture and unique intelligent data placement technology."

Increased performance

"As the first array vendor to announce support for this latest flash technology, Dell continues to redefine the economics of enterprise storage and tear down cost barriers to flash adoption," said Dell Malaysia's Tan.

"With these advancements, we can substantially reduce the cost of high-performing, flash-optimized arrays while also cranking-up the performance of affordable, general purpose arrays," he said.

"Customers can purchase or update existing arrays to benefit from the performance and density of enterprise flash at unparalleled costs," said Tan.

By adopting new Mainstream Read-Intensive (RI) SSDs, based on Triple Level Cell (TLC) 3D NAND technology, Dell's SC Series customers will benefit from a reduced flash price-for-performance and increased storage density than was previously available.

Dell has doubled SC Series storage array flash density, which now offer up to 90 terabytes of raw flash capacity per Dell Storage 2U array, allowing customers to support twice as much data in the same space.

Speaking of the new Dell Storage SCv2000 series, Tan said this array ago ordered enterprise performance at entry-class.  "Dell continues to redefine the economics of enterprise storage, offering customers of all sizes world class storage solutions that remove complexity, lower cost and deliver impressive long-term value."

"The new Dell Storage SCv2000 Series brings the proven performance and protection of our Dell SC Series arrays to an entry-level offering with best-in-class value at a very disruptive price," he said. "Overall, our new solutions offer customers innovative technologies to efficiently improve and simplify storage management with both current and new IT approaches."

 The portfolio of solutions announced are:
- Dell Storage SCv2000 Series - new entry-class arrays based on Dell Storage Center with best performance and protection in its class;
- Dell Storage PS6610 Series - dense arrays offering 3.5x capacity and up to 7x performance compared to previous generation arrays for customers with large data repository requirements; and
- Dell Storage with Microsoft Storage Spaces expands Dell's broad software-defined solutions (SDS) portfolio.

  Availability:
