Computer manufacturer Dell has launched an enterprise grade convertible tablet PC in Malaysia as the latest version of the company's Latitude XT3.

Dell managing director for consumer & commercial, Malaysia & Singapore, Varinderjit Singh said that the Dell Latitude XT3 convertible tablet PC is designed for mobile professionals who want to work without boundaries. "The Latitude XT3 possesses all the productivity, power and functionality of a standard laptop combined with the flexibility and dynamic interface of a responsive touch-screen tablet. The system allows non desk-bound workers, such as healthcare professionals, educators and service personnel, to work almost anywhere."

"In late 2007, we announced the Latitude XT, the industry's first multi-touch capable convertible tablet that set new benchmarks for tablet PCs, and we then followed up in 2009 with the XT2," said Singh. "Fast forward to today and we're now launching the third iteration of that design. To suggest there's been an evolution in technology and functionality is an understatement."

He said the device, available in Malaysia from RM4,580 (US$1,539), included an enhanced display size - a 13.3" HD LCD. "The picture-perfect clarity of the bigger landscape and wider viewing angles improve usability in both laptop and tablet mode. Available as an option, the XT3 also offers an outdoor viewing screen for work in sunlight."

"The XT3 is powered by new Intel Core i processors," said Singh. "This increased horsepower means the system can handle the toughest computing tasks. Hard drive options for the XT3 include up to 320GB and optional SSD. Depending on how it is configured, the XT3 can deliver more than eight hours of battery life and with Latitude ExpressCharge the battery can re-charge 80 percent in just about an hour."

 Security features

"In terms of security, the XT3 offers the same great data protection with Dell Data Protection, Remote Data Delete and Free Fall Sensor, while on the exterior, the system is protected with a strong magnesium alloy and a highly durable powder coated base," he said.

"Conversion between laptop and tablet modes is now just a simple twist of the LCD screen, all thanks to the new bi-directional hinge," Singh said. "The new Latitude XT3 is a combination of these productivity features with enhanced durability, security and manageability that IT professionals need. What's more, the Latitude XT3, featuring capacitive multi-touch (four-finger), pen, touchpad, full keyboard (optional backlit functionality) and mouse capabilities, truly conforms to how people work."
