As Singaporeans are travelling more frequently on budget airlines, Singapore-based DBS Bank has brought AirAsia, an Asian low-cost airline, onto its credit cards rewards programme.
According to CTC Travel, out of the 8.05 million trips made out of Singapore in 2012, 30 to 35 percent of them flew by budget airlines. However, there are limited rewards programmes for those flying with budget airlines. By having AirAsia onboard, these passengers will thus be able to "redeem their DBS Rewards Points on low-cost carriers as well as full-service airlines," said Anthony Seo, executive director and head, Cards and Unsecured Loans, DBS Bank.
The partnership with AirAsia will also extend to the POSB Everyday Card. POSB Everyday cardholders will enjoy a three percent cash rebate when they book their flights online at AirAsia.com.
