CyberSecurity Malaysia delivers training to officers from 8 Asean countries

The programme is part of the Malaysian government's commitment to promote technical cooperation among developing nations.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, national cyber security specialist CyberSecurity Malaysia has organised a training for 17 IT officers from eight Asean countries (17-26 August 2015).

The training course - called the 'Cyber Security Capacity Building: Cyber Security Compliance, Incident Handling and Assessment Training' - is under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) and part of the Malaysian government's commitment to promote technical cooperation among developing nations, said the ministry.

CyberSecurity Malaysia, which also received cooperation from National Security Council, has been appointed as the training institution under the MTCP to conduct the first cyber security training for the IT officers from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and Thailand.
 
 The ministry added that the course focused on enhancing cyber security skills and operational capabilities specifically in the area of cyber security compliance, incident handling and security assessment.

 The course will also serve as a platform to cultivate awareness, nurturing adoption and establishing capabilities to secure information effectively and creating a safer cyberspace.
 
The training was officially launched on 17 August 2015 (Monday) by Suhaimi Hamzah, under secretary of the ICT Policy Division, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), who represented Dato' Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur, the secretary general  of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. Also presence at the event was General Tan Sri Dato' Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed, chairman of the Board of Directors, CyberSecurity Malaysia.
