Automative supplier and technology company, Continental, has collaborated with the Housing Development Board (HDB) and Land Transport Authority (LTA) to launch a new mobile app that aims to help drivers navigate efficiently to available parking spaces in Singapore.
Called Park&Go@SG, it features a map and navigation system to help drivers locate available parking spaces. It also offers parking lot predictions and an SMS service to notify the user of the pricing for the parking lot. Essentially, the app provides users convenience, simplicity, and free parking guidance.
Following this launch, Continental also unveiled its Continental Backend Platform, which serves as the backbone of the app. The backend application ecosystem was developed by Continental's Interior Division to serve the company's overall backend requirements for the "Connected Car", as well as generic requirements for other connected applications.
"At Continental, we know that Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) will have a major impact on the transport systems network not only in Singapore but also globally. The launch of Park&Go @SG and Continental Backend Platform will increase our technical competence both in apps creation and the development of a robust backend infrastructure ecosystem that will act as a key enabler of Smart Mobility. This is an essential part of Singapore's Smart Nation initiatives and the ongoing Singapore Autonomous Vehicle Initiative (SAVI)," said Lo Kien Foh, Managing Director of Continental Automotive Singapore Pte Ltd.
Ralf Lenninger, Senior Vice President Interior Electronics Solutions at Continental Automotive added, "Continental's focus has always been stretching our know-how in R&D outside of our traditional setups. This emphasis will keep us constantly involved with the latest technologies and increase our competencies in cross-matching the functionalities between the Internet of Things (IoT) and the automotive to better engage the consumer world. Applications like Park&Go @SG and Continental Backend Platform are like inter-connected dots that we will eventually build upon and from which we will establish the basic foundation for the future implementation of an intelligent future mobility and Automated Driving."
