Technology solutions company Microsoft's Kuala Lumpur launch of Surface 3 Pro includes the message to Malaysian businesses to consider the new version as a laptop and tablet replacement.

During the launch at The Gardens Theatre, Mid Valley, Microsoft Malaysia managing director, Carlos Lacerda, said, "Our research is clear: people want just one device that does everything. Our vision is that Surface Pro 3 is the tablet that can replace your laptop-packing all the performance and utility of a fully powered laptop into a thin, light and beautifully designed tablet. You'll love being able to carry one device for your next class, workday or weekend getaway knowing you have all the power you need."

Lacerda said Microsoft research showed that  41 percent of working professionals in Asia Pacific carry both their tablets and laptops at all times "because they cannot find a single device that meets their combined needs."

In addition, 79 percent of working professionals in Asia Pacific own three or more types of devices - smartphones, laptops, desktop computers and tablets, he said.

"Surface Pro 3 is ideal for anyone who wants to streamline his or her lifestyle and get stuff done - not just mobile professionals, but also students and people in business environments who need high levels of corporate access, data security and central manageability," said Microsoft Malaysia's chief marketing and operations officer, Rukmani Subramanian.  "With a 12" display, Surface Pro 3 has the power of a laptop in a lightweight, versatile form. It is the ultimate device you can own that packs a lot of power under the hood."

Rukmani said features included:

  • Fourth-generation Intel Core processor options, amazing click-in keyboards (*sold separately) and a multi position kickstand take Surface Pro 3 from movie mode to working mode and all the way to writing mode.
  • Because Surface Pro 3 runs Windows 8.1 Pro, people can use the desktop software they rely on, such as Microsoft Office
  • Surface Pro 3 delivers writing and drawing experience with Surface Pen.
  • Built-in kickstand; great speakers with Dolby Audio enhanced sound; and up to nine hours of Web-browsing battery life.

Nine countries in Asia are included in Microsoft's launch of Surface 3 Pro, which is available to Malaysian consumers at select Microsoft retailers and commercial resellers nationwide.

*Keyboard and Microsoft Office sold separately.
