IT networking solutions firm Cisco has promoted Albert Chai to head the country's operations in Malaysia as the new managing director, it said.

Cisco Asean vice president,  Irving Tan, said, "Albert's expertise across a range of markets and technologies as well as his leadership skills and customer-centric approach in Malaysia validates my commitment to grow and develop local talent and provide opportunities for development within the Cisco Asean organisation."

Chai, who has 18 years experience in the IT industry, joined Cisco in July 2009 and since then; he has led the regional remit for enterprise, public sector and service provider segments.

Prior to Cisco, he was the vice president of sales for South East Asia at Acision, a messaging and mobile internet solutions provider and before that, the country director of Logica, Indonesia.

"I'm excited by the opportunity to drive value for businesses in Malaysia through our partner ecosystem while developing the economy and social innovation," said Chai. "The breath of Cisco technologies, solutions and architectures and our industry expertise drives our ability to transform Malaysian lives in business, government services and education."
