Becoming Indonesia’s de-facto online game payment solution: Malaysia’s MOL

Consumers in Indonesia can now buy MOLPoints online game vouchers through more than 7000 retail outlets.

Malaysian e-commerce services MOL Global's Indonesian subsidiary MOL Indonesia's new partnership with Indonesian retailers Alfamart and Alfamidi will allow Indonesian consumers to buy MOLPoints online game vouchers.

"Alfamart and Alfamidi's strong retail presence in Indonesia with more than 7,000 physical retail channels will help MOL become the de-facto online game payment mechanism in Indonesia, just as MOL's partnership with 7-Eleven in Malaysia has helped it become the No. 1 payment channel for online games in Malaysia and beyond," said MOL Group's chief executive officer, Ganesh Kumar Bangah in Kuala Lumpur.

During the partnership agreement in Indonesia, MOL Global's senior vice president for international business development Rivai Adidharma said the "country's rapid development in e-commerce and e-payment services has made Indonesia one of the fastest growing markets in Southeast Asia."

"The opportunity for growth in the online game industry in Indonesia is tremendous," said Adidharma. "We can see that over the past decade more than 90 game developers and publishers have established their foothold in Indonesia. This strategic partnership will provide the industry with a world class e-payment solution that will deliver a convenient payment option to 15 million online game enthusiasts in Indonesia."

MOL Indonesia country manager, Patrick Setiawan, said: "The integration of our respective solutions creates a comprehensive e-payment option that will directly benefit merchants and online gamers across the country. We look forward to growing with Alfamart and Alfamidi in the online game industry."

Retailer PT. Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk operates the Alfamart, Alfamidi and Lawson retail chains in the islands of Sumatera, Java, Bali and Sulawesi.
