BASF regional Shared Service centre in Malaysia has new MD

Malaysia-based chemical company BASF's regional Shared Service Centre has a new managing director, Andreas Biermann.

Biermann succeeds Lau Kin Pong who is retiring after 21 years with the company.

A company statement said Biermann will oversee the operations of BASF's Shared Service Centre located at Menara TM, which provides functional services in the areas of finance, human resources, environment, health & safety, controlling, procurement and information services to 17 countries in Asia Pacific.

He was previously the vice president for Controlling Information Services and Supply Chain Operations, as well as the managing director at BASF Business Services Holding GmbH in Ludwigshafen, Germany.

Biermann joined BASF SE in 1988 and has subsequently held several management positions in Germany, South Korea and China.

BASF Shared Service Centre, Kuala Lumpur, was established in 2005 and provides functional services in the areas of Controlling, Finance, Environment, Health & Safety, Human Resources, Information Services and Procurement to BASF companies and affiliates in 17 countries and territories across the region. BASF has two other shared service centres in Berlin, Germany, and Montevideo, Uruguay, which respectively cover Europe and the Americas.
